The Cradle of Solidarity

(approx. 3 hours)

The English or Norwegian speaking guide tells you about the dramatic events in the Gdańsk shipyard in the 70s and 80s, when the workers were protesting against poor living conditions and the communist regime. The famous battle for freedom, which had its historical beginning in the shipyard, gave a basis for a new political map of Europe.

The tour includes:

a visit to the historic Occupational Health and Safety Hall where the agreement between the strikers and the regime was signed in August 1980.
a visit to Solidarity Square and the Monument of the Fallen Shipyard Workers
a short sightseeing of Old Town of Gdańsk
